What is a Cavapoo?

A Cavapoo is a 50/50 mix between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. Cavapoos are one of the sweetest natured dogs you can find. They are wonderful companions and make great therapy dogs. Cavapoos get along very well with other dogs and every person is their friend. They do well in an apartment, but will be fine in a larger home as well. 

Temperament or Personality

Cavapoos are very sweet, loyal, and kind. For their small size they sure do bring a huge personality to the table. They are always full of puppy energy no matter what their age. Cavapoos are very loyal to their owners and make a great family dog. They are very kind and caring towards children and love spending as much time as they can with their family!

Exercise needs and size

Exercise is always needed to keep a dog healthy, but Cavapoos are small and do not need excessive exercise. Cavapoos tend to stand 10 to 16 inches in hight and can weigh anywhere from 10 to 20 pounds. 

Coat and Color Characteristics

Cavapoos have long loosely curled hair that will need to be groomed to keep their coat tangle free. Cavapoos are considered to be hypoallergenic because of the poodle parent, however, it is always recommended to spend time with them, before adopting, if you have allergies, to be sure they will not affect you. Cavapoos can come in many colors and is largely dependent on what genetics they receive from their parents.

Is a Cavapoo Right for You?

If you are considering adding a Cavapoo to your family, they can be a great addition for people who live in a city or who live in an apartment make for a few reasons. First, they are small in size which makes them perfect for living in smaller spaces. Cavapoos typically grow to be no more than 10 and 20 pounds so they do not need much room. Cavapoos also do not require lots of exercise and are content with short walks and playing indoors. which makes them well-suited to city living. They also are a good choice for people who want to avoid dealing with a lot of pet hair in their living space because Cavapoos are known for being low-shedding.
