What is a Cockapoo?

Cockapoos are a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a miniature Poodle. Also known a Cockerdoodles, They are very energetic and happy dogs. They make great loyal companions for anyone and will be able to keep up with energetic children. They love people and will usually get along with other dogs. 

Is a Cockapoo the same as a Cockerdoodle?

Yes, cockerdoodle is another name for a cockapoo. Although cockapoo is the better known name, cockerdoodle is seen as a more modern name for the breed.

Temperament or Personality

Cockapoos are very friendly, loving, and intelligent dogs. Cockapoos make for an amazing family pet for many reasons. First, Cockpoos are full of energy and can keep up with energetic children. Second, they are very kind and caring towards children. Finally, they are very loyal and love their whole family! Cockapoos always want to be involved with their family!

Exercise needs and size

Cockapoos or cockerdoodles are a little bigger, usually around 20lbs, so they are not a tiny lap dog and will need sufficient exercise to keep them healthy & well-behaved. However, they will do fine in an apartment as well as a larger home.

Coat and Color Characteristics

Cockapoo coats are long and wavy, so they will need daily brushing and regular grooming. With one parent being a poodle, they are considered to be hypoallergenic and shed very little. However, it is always recommended to spend time with them, before adopting, if you have allergies, to be sure they will not affect you. Cockerdoodles can come in many colors and is largely dependent on what genetics they receive from their parents.
